Bry at 6.30 Worked on balancing stock After breakfast had curious incident with Mr Sprake On Saturday he had been faced with the necesity of brewing an AK.
This is a light bitter beer of 16.0 bls & closely resembles a light mild of which we have a good sale of 15.0lbs. The sales of AK are about 4 brls a week. We are now without a small vessel & can brew nothing less than 45 brls. We have 3 60 brl versels available & a 120brl vessel in the Room in which the alterations are being carried out. I was opposed to brewing in this. The beers that we had brew were a large mild (xxx), a xx & the AK. I suggested that the large vessel should remain empty & that we brewed 120bls 0f xxx & 60 brls 0f xx the latter of & lighter shade than usual so that part could be racked as AK & the rest as xx
Sprake would not listen to this but insisted in filling the large vessel xx two 60 brls with xxx & the other vessel with 45 brls A.K. I therefore made arrangments for the workmen to leave the large vessel open to us.This morning Sprake was working because he did to know what he could do with 45 brls of AK ie about 3 months supply. I said nothing of my previous plan & we discussed the advisablity of selling it as xxx or red All at once Sprake declared he had hit on a splendid plan. This was to brew a xx of light colour ..etc ... ! Exactly my plan of Saturday This was adopted! Sprake had told me on sat of the affect on Walden of the loss of his calander before going to breakfast this morning I replaced it by a dimuative one cut from a pocket diary. I noticed it had been torn down when I went to the office this morning but Walden said nothing. Men arrived Adams to erect new vessels in a afternoon .
Allan was to come to tea but after all arrangement had been made I got a telegram to say he had taken the wrong train & had been carried right through to London. Terribly wet night snow fell & turned to slush Studied the germination of barley corn Despatched photo's to Marlow.
